Plagiarism
EKONOMI ISLAM Journal upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. Authors must not use the words, data, figures, or ideas of others without proper attribution. All sources must be clearly cited at the point of use, and any reuse of wording must be appropriately paraphrased, quoted, and referenced in accordance with accepted academic citation standards.
Similarity Screening
All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening prior to the peer-review process. The journal uses professional similarity detection systems, including:
1. Turnitin
2. Crossref Similarity Check powered by iThenticate
These tools are used to detect overlap with previously published works, submitted manuscripts, and other academic sources.
Similarity Threshold
Manuscripts must demonstrate a sufficient level of originality. The journal applies the following standards:
1. A manuscript must have a similarity index below 20% to be considered acceptable for further processing.
2. Similarity reports are carefully interpreted by the editorial team. Not all similarity constitutes plagiarism (e.g., references, standard terminology, and properly quoted material may be acceptable).
3. Manuscripts exceeding the similarity threshold will be returned to the author for revision before any further editorial action is taken. Authors must correct all identified overlaps and ensure proper citation.
Review Process
A manuscript will only be sent to peer reviewers after it has passed plagiarism screening and meets the journal’s originality requirements. Reviewers may also raise concerns regarding suspected plagiarism during the evaluation process.
Editorial Action on Plagiarism
The journal does not process manuscripts containing plagiarised material. If plagiarism is detected, the following actions may be taken depending on the severity:
a. Request for revision and resubmission
b. Immediate rejection of the manuscript
c. Retraction of published articles (if plagiarism is discovered post-publication)
d. Notification to the author’s institution when necessary
Author Responsibility
Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that their work is original and properly cited. Submission of a manuscript implies that the work is free from plagiarism and has not been improperly copied from other sources.
Plagiarism Checking Tools
The journal uses the following tools for similarity detection and plagiarism screening:
1. Turnitin
2. Crossref Similarity Check (iThenticate)
These tools support the journal’s commitment to maintaining academic honesty, research integrity, and high publication standards.
