The Islamic Economics Journal, published by the Islamic Banking Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. HAMKA, has experienced significant development since its establishment. The following is a brief chronological history of the journal:

  1. The Islamic Economics Journal was established in 2016, initiated by the Sharia Banking Study Program in collaboration with the faculty leadership.

  2. At its inception, the journal was published in print format, and later in 2016 it transitioned to an electronic (online) format. At that time, the Editor-in-Chief was Fajar Mujaddid, S.E., M.M.

  3. In 2019, the position of Editor-in-Chief was handed over to Fatma Yeni, S.E., M.Sc.

  4. In 2020, the journal received SINTA 4 accreditation from the Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education of Indonesia, marking an important milestone in its academic recognition at the national level.

  5. In 2022, the Editor-in-Chief position was assumed by Andi Amri, S.E., M.M. AWPS,CSFE During this period, the journal experienced significant development, including the migration of the journal management system to **Open Journal Systems version 3.3 and improvements to the website interface to make it more modern and user-friendly.

  6. In 2023, the journal implemented a policy requiring all submitted articles to be written in English and to include international authorship or collaboration.

  7. Since May 2024, the Editor-in-Chief has been Muhammad Iman Sastra Mihajat, Lc., PDIBF, MSc Fin, Ph.D., who continues to lead the journal’s development and academic advancement.

  8. In 2025, the journal successfully achieved **SINTA 3 accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology of Indonesia. This achievement reflects a significant improvement in the journal’s academic quality, editorial management, and national recognition. The SINTA 3 accreditation indicates that the journal meets higher standards in scholarly publishing, research impact, and editorial performance, strengthening its reputation and competitiveness at the national level.
