Abstract

Background: Training in the capture of tea leaf extract serum is important because of the growing popularity of natural cosmetic products that are safe and effective. Tea leaves (Camellia sinensis) contain a large proportion of polyphenols, which are useful ingredients that can enhance skin health. This training is urgently needed to raise people’s understanding, and the skill of Gen Z in particular, of how to use herbs as the basic components of cosmetics. It aims to improve the competence of students from SMK Cut Meutia Banda Aceh in the use of high-quality natural cosmetics, as well as the creation of herbal-based products. Method: Conducted in three phases: preparation, action, and evaluation. This activity involved 24 students from SMK Cut Meutia Banda Aceh utilizing interactive learning guided by the methods of socialization, direct practice, and questionnaires for the evaluation of responses and understanding of the participants. The training was held on March 6, 2024, at the Pharmacy Laboratory of Banda Aceh Pharmaceutical and Food Analyst Academy with three speakers and three instructors. Results: the training materials satisfactorily (100%), with many self-rated improvements in knowledge and skills. Further, this training also provoked the participants’ urge to start small enterprises in the natural cosmetics industry, thereby augmenting the local economy through the MSME. Conclusion: This activity enhanced the practical competence of the students and spurred creativity by utilizing sustainable, locally inbuilt resources.
