Update Policy with Crossmark

REB enabled with Crossmark

The CrossMark logo is a commitment by REB to update the content published and alert readers if any change occurs in an article.

Crossmark gives readers quick and easy access to the current status of an item of content.

Suppose a secondary and related article (like a retraction note, corrigendum, letter, reply, ...) is accepted for a primary article. In that case, authors will be informed using the Crossmark facility and can track it using a notification. The Briefland content with the CrossMark logo is restricted to specific journal contents and limited to particular publication types (like original articles, review articles, and brief reports). Clicking on the CrossMark icon will inform the reader of the current status of a document and may also provide additional publication record information about the document.

These article types could be linked to the source article using a Crossmark logo even after publishing:

  • Corrections
  • Supplementary data
  • Letter to the Editor
  • Retractions
  • Reply
  • adding ORCID
  • funding data
  • license details
  • Clinical trial registration data
  • peer review information

CrossMark, a multi-publisher initiative from CrossRef, provides a standard way for readers to locate the authoritative version of a document. Elsevier recognizes the importance of the integrity and completeness of the scholarly record to researchers and librarians and attaches the highest priority to maintaining trust in the authority of its electronic archive. Clicking on the CrossMark icon will inform the reader of the current status of a document and may also provide additional publication record information about the document.
