Focus and Scope

Jurnal Geografi, Edukasi dan Lingkungan (JGEL)  ISSN 2579-8499 (print), ISSN 2579-8510 (online)  is a national journal in Indonesia published by the Departement of Geography Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. HAMKA, concerns with geography education, physical geography, social geography, Geographic Information Science (GIScience), and Enviromental study which releases twice in a year (January and July). 

Jurnal Geografi, Edukasi dan Lingkungan (JGEL) welcomes manuscripts which has original, ably illustrated, and well-written on any topic of geographical related to Indonesian cases as well as other areas. The editorial contents and elements that comprise the journal include:

1. Theoretical articles

2. Empirical studies.

3. Case studies

4. Systematic Literature Review.


Aim of Journal :

Jurnal Geografi, Edukasi dan Lingkungan (JGEL) aims to publish original scientific articles that advance knowledge in geography education, physical geography, social geography, Geographic Information Science (GIScience), and Enviromental study, particularly through field study or literature review .

Scopes of Journal :

The editorial board welcomes innovative manuscripts the scopes of this journal are:

1. Geography education
Manuscript of research findings or ideas related to issues in geography education such as : Using technology to enhance geography teaching and learning, learning approach and method development, development media for geography education more relevant to students, or more.

2. Physical geography

Physical geography involves research and ideas related to processes and patterns in the natural environment, including the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and geosphere, which are derived from either field research results or literature studies.

3. Social geography

Social geography results from research and ideas that examine issues related to the relationship between society and space, such as social disasters, demography, and other phenomena.

4. Geographic Information Science (GIScience)
Geographic Information Science (GIScience) is the result of research and ideas that emphasize the use of technology and geospatial data for the interpretation and analysis of geographic phenomena. This includes the use of Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing for analyzing disaster phenomena.

5. Environmental Study
Environmental studies are the results of research or ideas related to the analysis of the phenomena of human interaction with the environment to overcome complex contemporary environmental problems. Such as: pollution, climate change, disasters, and other relevant issues.
