Abstract

the development of information technology can’t be separated by advancing of computer network infrastructure. The design of a computer network is required the preliminary concept and simulation to get the suitable requirements and the optimum result. Many components can be used to design the computer network, such as Router. The router has many operating systems as well as MikrotikOS. This paper describes the design and simulation of the computer network. It can use the Graphical Network Simulator 3 (GNS – 3) application. GNS – 3 is computer networks simulation software base on GUI (graphical user interface) that identical to CISCO Packet Tracer. Meanwhile, GNS3 can do the complex network simulation because it uses the original operating system from network devices like CISCO, Mikrotik, and Juniper. Therefore, users feel in the real condition into the direct configuration of the router than the CISCO Packet Tracer. To use the GNS-3 application, the users must install the operating system of the router as like MikrotikOS or CISCO IOS. This research discusses the design and simulation of a computer network by using a GNS-3 application with the right configuration and it can be implemented with suitable conditions.
