Abstract

Blockchain technology has emerged as one of the most transformative innovations of the past decade, with significant potential to revolutionize the education sector. This study conducts a systematic literature review to analyze the benefits, challenges, and implementation trends of blockchain in education. The findings reveal that blockchain offers numerous advantages, including tamper-proof academic credentialing, decentralized data management, and enhanced transparency and security in educational processes. However, its adoption faces several barriers, such as scalability issues, regulatory hurdles, institutional resistance, and limited stakeholder awareness. The study identifies global implementation trends, highlighting how higher education institutions and online learning platforms are pioneering blockchain-based solutions. These findings provide comprehensive insights into the opportunities and challenges of blockchain integration in education, while recommending further research on policy frameworks and successful case studies of implementation.
